WHO WE ARE AND OUR MISSION
This is our mission
Give Love Association is a skills training organization dedicated to the teaching and
promotion of Ecological Sanitation and composting. We work hands-on
with schools, communities, and Non-Governmental Organizations to provide
affordable toilets and on-site treatment solutions for high-need and
water-scarce areas.

Small changes with big difference
We give cash directly to people living in poverty.
GiveDirectly is a nonprofit that lets donors like you send money directly to the world's poorest households. In doing so, we aim to accelerate the end of extreme poverty globally.
We believe people living in poverty deserve the dignity to choose for themselves how best to improve their lives — cash enables that choice.
Donors have delivered over $800 million to people in need.
Since 2009, we've delivered $800M+ in cash directly into the hands of over 1.6 million people living in poverty. We currently have operations in Bangladesh, DRC, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Mozambique, Morocco, Rwanda, Uganda, and the U.S.
And no, people don't just blow it on booze.
It's ok. Many people think that at first.
In fact, research finds people use cash in impactful and creative ways.
We read the research. We read more research. Then we did our own research. And it turns out, people use cash on medicine; cows and goats and chickens; school fees; water; solar lights; tin roofs; irrigation; motorcycles to jumpstart taxi services; businesses to generate income;
OUR TEAM
Meet the real world heroes

Rodrigo Penja
Rodrigo travelled to Haiti after the earthquake to help with the relief effort. He joined GiveLove to work on our first pilot, and launched the first Green School site. Over the past decade, Rodrigo has designed, built, and managed composting systems and dry urinals for large music festivals and Eco-lodges in Portugal – pioneering systems for upscale "Glamping." His approach to building systems has been influenced by advance coursework in permaculture, Eco-village design, and bio-construction. Rodrigo joined the international Go-team in 2015 to launch the Nicaragua program, and will spearhead other international trainings as they come our way.

Chris Pearce

Stefan Thimmes
Stefan joined our team in 2014. Over the past 20 years, Stefan's passion for alternative, off-grid living has helped him acquire a an impressive range of skills in sustainable and low-impact building methods; including his own experiments with composting toilets and EcoSan. Stefan has years of professional experience as a builder and journeyman plumber which strengthen his role as an EcoSan trainer. He especially enjoys fieldwork and creating appropriate toilet designs and structures using local and native building techniques and materials. Without a doubt, Stefan is Give Love's most popular team member, and our partners always ask to spend more time with him.

Patricia Arquette
Patricia Arquette founded Give Love association in January 2010 after the devastating earthquake in Haiti. Her hands-on approach to ecological sanitation has inspired the best experts in the field to work on our programs. Patricia's interest in promoting compost sanitation and improving public health is motivated by the desire to protect water resources, restore soil fertility, and create more resilient communities. Most recently, Patricia spent over a month at Standing Rock to help build over 100 compost toilets.
